Tribute to Qana

To the spirit of every resistant, who stood in the face of the enemy…
To the spirit of every martyr who was never recognized on the burial day…
To every child, mother, father, relative and friend, I write this article even if I was not born yet that day, because humanity does not require temporal coexistence, but requires a heart that feels and a mind that distinguishes between ordinary events and shocking news.

1996
Following the Israeli aggression called Operation Grapes of Wrath, a number of Lebanese civilians took shelter in a United Nations compound at Qana to protect themselves from the Zionist missiles and strikes, believing that the enemy has a high sense of humanity and respect for the human spirit.

Like the rest of the centers, the Fijian compound welcomed civilians and protected more than 800 seeking protection.
At 2 pm on the 18th of April, Israel aimed its bombs at the Fijian battalion, killing 106 of them, amongst them 18 martyrs held the title “unknown” on their burial day, and injuring about 150 people with physical and psychological disabilities and injuries.

Here, we have confirmed the naked conscience of the enemy of all forms of humanity. The international reaction did not go beyond the demand for a ceasefire. The Security Council met to vote on a resolution condemning Israel, but the United States aborted the decision by the veto right.
What we’ve seen from foreigners is normal, as long as the Arabs and the unity of their fate and identity did not shake them view the seriousness of the situation and the need to stop military operations in Lebanon.

2019
The case has not ended yet … these were human beings. Bodies with souls, flesh and blood. They should not only remain in the memory of those who knew them, but they should enter history to make each and every individual on this earth learn about the treason, the injustice and the evil of this enemy. Let the world hear the cry of every orphan left by the massacre, every widow and each bereaved mother.
Let the world see the tears of every victim, and memorize the image of every martyr and every drop of blood that penetrated the soil. Let the humanity learn about the pride of those people who never accepted defeat, who saw in every candle lit up for the soul of a victim, a flame of hope and victory, of faith and anticipation of the day when this enemy will receive its punishment in this world and the Hereafter.
